BONTOC, Mountain Province – With the theme, “Live to Lead,” the Philippine Red Cross (PRC)– Mountain Province Chapter held its second chapter assembly on February 21 in the capital town.
The assembly was graced by no other than Francis J. Jalandoni, member of the Board of Governors, PRC.
According to him, the assembly is a chance for the officers, members and volunteers to renew their commitment in providing a sustained and effective humanitarian service as stated in the vision and mission of Red Cross.
Jalandoni gave a brief history of Red Cross and discussed on its core values and services. According to him, PRC is the largest humanitarian network in the country with 104 chapters, more than 1600 staff and 2 million volunteers and members. It has 95 blood facilities and 10 regional warehouses. Further, he said that PRC is an auxiliary to the government in the humanitarian field as provided by Republic Act 10072.
Provincial Administrator Johnny N. Co who delivered the message of Governor Bonifacio C. Lacwasan, Jr. joined Gov. Jalandoni in celebrating another milestone in the existence of the PRC in Mountain Province.
“I believe that this is a call for all of us to live and lead in the implementation of Red Cross goals, ideals and objectives – all through the Red Cross way, Co said.
The provincial administrator also thanked the PRC for its significant programs and activities like blood and health services, disaster management and welfare services and other volunteer services that they pursued and continue to implement in the different municipalities and barangays in the province.
Meanwhile, PRC Mountain Province Chapter Administrator Robert L. Pangod reported on the accomplishments of Red Cross from 2018-2019.
On the same occasion, the new set of Board of Directors (BOD) were elected. Five out of six candidates were chosen to complete the new set of officers. Elected were Joshua B. Fronda, Winnie E. Cue, Billy Regaspi, Flora O. Madanom and Joyce K. Tagtag. They will be joining the remaining BODs whose terms are yet to expire. The other incumbents are Pascual A. Sacgaca (BOD Chairperson), Donnalyn K. Balio, Joseph O. Padcayan, Miguela Limmayog and Anacleto Tangilag. The mandated BOD members are Governor Lacwasan (Co-Chairperson), Federico P. Martin (DepEd), Major Jerry B. Haduca (MPPPO) and Carol D. Yawan (PHO).
According to PRC-MP BOD Chairperson Sacgaca, the incoming officers are expected to help the chapter expand its services. He also thanked the outgoing officers who rendered their precious time and services during their term.
