LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Mayor Romeo K. Salda ordered the reorganization of the town’s Environment and Natural Resources Council (ENRC) and designated Vice Mayor Roderick Awingan to lead the aforesaid body.
Under Salda’s order, the council shall be composed of a chairperson in the person of Vice Mayor Awingan, a vice chairman in the person of Engr. Leandro de Jesus, Officer-in-Charge of the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) and members, Councilor John D. Botiwey, Chairperson of the Committee on Solid Waste Management; Councilor Pendon B. Thompson, , Chairperson of the Committee on Indigenous peoples; all the 16 punong barangays; Carlos Arida, Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer (PENRO) of Benguet; Julius T. Kollin, Environment and Natural Resources Officer of Benguet; Engr. Oliver I. Tauli, general manager of the La Trinidad Water District; Maria Rosario R. Lopez, representative of the Jaime V. Ongpin Foundation; Dr. Felipe Comila, president of the Benguet State University (BSU); Police Maj. Clef B. Vencio, chief of the La Trinidad Municipal Police Station, Felicitas Ticbaen, Municipal Agriculture Officer; Engr. Benedict Pineda, Municipal Engineer; Dwight Daodao, Municipal General Services Officer; Edward M. Juanito, Sangguniang Bayan Secretary; lawyer Bartolome Baldas, Municipal Legal Officer; Imelda Grupo, Municipal Budget officer; Engr. Vicente Perez, Jr., Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator; Yoshio Labi, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management officer; Sherry Junette Tagle, president of the Cordillera Career Development College; Rev. Patricio Lawaguey, Team president; Josephine Leon, president of La Trinidad Women’s federation; Dr. Aurea Marie Sandoval, CAS-BSU; Rev. Anita O. Gomaya, president, King’s College of the Philippines; Andy Colte, municipal agriculture and fisheries council president; Dra. Rosita Dayag, District Supervisor; Dra. Meliarazon Dulay, chief of hospital of the Benguet General Hospital; Cortes Dagupen, private sector representative; and other appointed members.
The council shall perform oversight functions for the assessment team on communal forest and watersheds and on matters pertaining to environment and natural resources; review and recommend the implementation of programs and projects on environmental and natural resources and develop an environmental code and environment development plan for the municipality.
Further, the executive committee shall respond to urgent issues which need immediate response and perform such other functions as may be necessary upon the orders of the council and the local chief executive.
On the other hand, the technical working group shall assist the council in its functions and research; facilitate planning sessions of the council; update the council on the status of the programs, projects and activities undertaken for the development and promotion of organic agriculture; create effective networking with the various stakeholders and provide such other functions, duties and responsibilities as may be necessary to implement the programs, projects and activities as directed by the council.
Awingan expressed his gratitude to Mayor Salda for bestowing his trust and confidence on him to aggressively lead in the environmental preservation and protection programs of the municipal government in coordination with its partners.
