City officials recently commended and congratulated Dr. Alexander Co Abad, an alumnus of the Catholic-run Saint Louis University (SLU) for winning second place in the Queen Mary United Kingdom Best PhD Robotic Award 2023.
In a resolution authored by Councilor Leandro B. Yangot, Jr., local legislators stated that Dr. Abad’s superb performance is worthy of praise and emulation which is also a testament of the quality of education being provided by the higher education institutions in the city that truly makes the entire Louisian community in the city very proud.
Dr. Abad is a graduate of SLU’s electronic engineering program and that he presented his research on Force, Vibration and Temperature on September 14, 2023 at the Towards Autonomous Robotics Systems (TAROS) Conference in Cambridge University, United Kingdom.
His thesis title, “Fine-Grained Haptics: Sensing and Actuating haptic Primary Colors,’ focuses on developing a revolutionary sensor with potential applications in telemedicine and telerobotic.
The council stipulated that Dr. Abad’s achievement in the prestigious award brought honor and pride and continues to depict the quality of education being provided by Baguio-based schools to their students who continue to reap local, national, regional and international recognition.
Copies of the approved resolution will be transmitted to Dr. Abad and the SLU administration for their information, guidance, ready reference and further needed action.
