Yap’s donation was formally turned over to the BeGH administration by the congressional district heed coordinator Anthony Kuan during simple turnover ceremonies Monday.
The donated PPEs to the frontliners of the fight against COVID-19 include 30 pieces thermal scanners, 1,500 pieces hazmat suits, 1,500 pieces N95 masks, 140 boxes surgical gloves, 240 boxes face masks, 900 pieces goggles, 60 galloons alcohol, 2 drums alcohol and 14 pieces acrylic boxes.
The nation was received by BeGH chief of hospital Dr. Meliarazon Dulay where the same will be distributed to the hospital frontliners considering that the number of Persons Under Investigation (PUIs) in the province continues to increase.
The caretaker congressman recognized the important role of the frontliners, especially the health workers, in attending to the needs of PUIs, thus, the donation to fully equip them to prevent them from being exposed to the deadly virus that might compromise their health and result to the depletion of the work force in the health sector which would mean a serious setback against COVID-19 which should not happen if the health workers are appropriately protected.
Earlier, Congressman Yap turned over to the provincial government some P1 million as financial assistance to the local government in the ongoing aggressive campaign against COVID-19 in the province to prevent the further spread of the contagious virus in the different municipalities.
Based on the latest data from the Cordillera office of the health department, Benguet has already 3 confirmed COVID-19 cases that include a 34-year old native of Bokod who had history of travel abroad, a 6-year old female from Puguis, La Trinidad who had history of travel to Cavite with the members of her family to attend the wake of a relative and another Overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who came from Hong Kong recently.
The lawmaker underscored the important role that the health workers are playing in saving lives at the height of the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine that is why they deserve all the needed support and motivation from concerned sectors of the society for them to be able to effectively and efficiently perform their duties and responsibilities.
Yap assured health workers and other frontliners in the province that his office will continue to provide the needed support to those who will be in need of similar kinds of assistance because they are doing a great job in ensuring that they will also be properly protected to prevent them from contracting the illness that could compromise their health in the future.
Yap was appointed by House Speaker Allan Peter Cayetano as the caretaker congressman of Benguet following the untimely demise of the late Rep. Nestor B. Fongwan, Sr., who succumbed to a lingering illness last December 18, 2918.
