LUNA, Apayao – The FRANSE Farmers Agriculture Cooperative in San Francisco, Luna received free training to boost their income from farming on April 18-19, 2024, in San Francisco, Luna.
This training was sponsored by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) as part of its Negosyo Center Program, aimed to help cooperatives increase their revenue and create job opportunities for members.
During the training, Supervising Science Research Specialist Dr. Riza G. Abilgos-Ramos from DA-Philrice in Munoz City, Nueva Ecija, emphasized the importance of adding value to rice production by creating marketable rice-based products. She also talked about the need for good processing practices in the food industry.
“When venturing into food manufacturing, we must adhere to the standards of Good manufacturing practices,” Abilgos-Ramos said.
Additionally, Ms. Kate Danielle P. Laureta and Ms. Nica Jane O. Malacora from the Rice Chemistry and Food Division discussed food safety, FDA guidelines, and pricing strategies for food products.
DTI-Apayao Provincial Director Engr. Wena M. Buston encouraged the cooperative members to innovate and apply what they learned from the training, emphasizing the importance of starting small and growing consistently for success.
After the training, participants are now equipped with the knowledge and skills to improve their farming operations and income. By Jomela Dela Torre
