TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Rep. Allen Jesse C. Mangaoang said the component city of Tabuk and the whole Kalinga province have bright prospects of achieving robust growth and development in the future because of their well-planned implementation of zoning and the proper design of roads leading to the various parts of the province.
The first-term lawmaker underscored the peace and order situation in the province has significantly improved through the years because of the continuous information and education campaign being done by local officials to remind the populace that peace and order will be the province’s vehicle towards robust development in the future.
“We have constantly communicated to the different tribes not to demand too much from non-binodngan suspects who committed offenses against them to erase the impression that we are using the province’s bodong or peace pact to get one over non-binodngan residents who have made Tabuk or other parts of the province their residence,” Mangaoang stressed.
He added the implementation of major development projects in the city and the province have opened greater opportunities for the people belonging to the different tribes and even non-binodngan residents to improve their lives because of increasing opportunities to have gainful employment and the availability of more sources of livelihood for everyone.
Because of its wide land area, Tabuk has the luxury of having national roads that comply with the 60-meter width and interior roads having at least 30 meters’ width allowing lesser traffic congestions and wider areas for vehicles to maneuver.
According to him, the city government and the seven municipal governments are being obliged to strictly comply with their respective land use and zoning ordinances to strike a balance between efforts to preserve and protect the state of the environment in their areas of jurisdiction and the implementation of development projects.
He commended city, provincial and municipal officers for foreseeing the bright prospects of development and subsequently instituting the appropriate mitigating measures to prevent the serious adverse effects of rapid urbanization to the population in the future.
Tabuk is being eyed as one of the emerging centers of growth and development because of its wide areas for future investments coupled with its rapidly increasing Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) from the national government that could be augmented by the expected hike in its internally generated resources with the expected surge in business activities due to its proximity to Tuguegarao City in Cagayan and Cauayan and Santiago cities in Isabela.
Kalinga is the region’s rice granary due to the vast tracks of rice farms in the lowland communities of Tabuk City, Rizal and Pinukpuk irrigated abundantly by the Upper Chico river Irrigation System (UCRIS) which irrigates over 11,000 hectares of agricultural farms not only in the city but also in nearby Quezon, Isabela.
Mangaoang expressed confidence that the present and future generations will be able to maintain the proper land use and zoning of the city and the different municipalities to prevent the scourge of rapid urbanization.
