LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – The Provincial Board spearheaded by Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Z. Calimlim, Jr. commended the winners of the 1st Pangasinan Inter-LGU Unity Games, a brainchild of Governor Amado “Pogi” I. Espino III.
The commendation was made through Provincial Resolution No. 953-2017 which was authored by all members of the board entitled: Congratulating The Winners Of The 1st Inter-LGU Unity Games 2017 In The Province Of Pangasinan.
The sports project which featured two sporting events—basketball for men and volleyball for women—was championed by Urbiztondo led by no-less than Mayor Martin Raul S. Sison II under Division II and Urdaneta City in Division 1 for basketball and Burgos (Division II) and Alaminos City (Division 1) for volleyball in a best-of-three series last August 25.
It can be recalled that aside from the unity games among local government units, Gov. Espino launched other provincial-government-sponsored sports projects like the Inter-Town/City Basketball Tournament and Inter-Agency Friendly Basketball Tournament, which is still on-going, to provide an avenue for friendly but intense competition among Pangasinense youth, government officials and employees throughout the province.
During the regular session on September 4, the members of the board also expressed desire to commend the winners of the Inter-Town/City Basketball Tournament which featured young cagers from various towns/cities in the province with age bracket of 18 to 24 years old. Team Binmaley bagged the championship slot followed by Team Manaoag occupying the 1st runner-up.
The Inter-Town/City basketball tourney which is considered as the biggest basketball league in Pangasinan is set to re-open in November with more powerful teams expected to be enlisted.
