SAN FERNANDO, La Union – The Social Security System (SSS) issued Show Cause Orders to nine non-compliant establishments as it conducted its Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) Campaign here on July 25.
SSS Acting Head for Operations Legal Services Division Atty. Renato S. Cuisia said that the RACE Campaign is part of the pension fund’s mandate to ensure employers’ full compliance with their statutory obligations under Republic Act 11199 or the Social Security Act of 2018.
“All employers who were subjected to RACE failed and or refused to pay the SSS contributions of their respective employees. Hence, we are here to personally remind them of their obligations under the law by posting show cause orders in their business establishments which require them to respond within a non-extendable period of 15 days from posting of said notice,” Cuisia explained.
Eight business establishments which did not pay their employees’ SSS contributions are Jel-Ra Store, Bela and Tarj Trading, Catbangen SFC Gas Station, NK Che Che General Merchandise, Reybourne Car Wash, Gemkarp Marketing and Frozen Foods, Vram’s Canteen and Northermed Enterprise. Meanwhile, Bok Chicken LU Food House failed to pay their delinquencies under the installment proposal. Total delinquency amounts to more than P1.38 million.
“This serves as a notice that employers who failed to comply with the Show Cause Order shall face criminal prosecution which include imprisonment from 6 years to 12 years and payment of contribution delinquencies and penalties,” Cuisia added.
Under RA 11199, employers must be duly registered with the SSS on the first day of business operations, report their employees within 30 days from their first day of work, submit their employee records to the SSS Account Officer for payroll audit, and pay their employee’s contributions with their counterpart shares regularly.
“We also encourage all delinquent employers, including Household Employers and those who we visited during today’s operation, to avail of the ongoing Contribution Penalty Condonation Program until September 6, 2019. Under this special program, penalties shall be waived upon payment of their outstanding principal delinquency,” Cuisia concluded.
RACE in La Union, led by Cuisia together with Luzon Operations Group Senior Vice President Josie Magana, North Luzon I Operations Vice President Ceasar Saludo, and SSS La Union Branch Head Francis Pentecostes, is a part of the fourth batch of simultaneous RACE Operations nationwide. Other areas that were visited by the SSS RACE Team on July 25 were Novaliches Q.C, Tacloban City, and Digos City.
