LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The Cordillera Regional Organic Agriculture Congress successfully concluded on August 10, 2023, leaving participants enriched with newfound knowledge and insights garnered from two days of engaging discussions and enlightening lectures.
On the final day of the congress, a series of topics were discussed. The agenda encompassed diverse subjects including the Utilization of Trichoderma, the KADIWA Financial Grant Assistance Program, the Potential of Black Soldier Fly (BSF) in Organic Agriculture, the Development of Plant Nutrient Solution for Organic Production of Lettuce and Strawberry, and a session on Financial Literacy.
In his closing remarks, Regional Agricultural and Fisheries Council Chairperson, Ryan U. Palunan, urged the participants to actively apply the insights gleaned from the lectures, for the advancement of their organic farming practices. Palunan expressed his hopes for the organic farming community to elevate their methods and underscored the crucial role of youth in shaping the organic agriculture sector’s future.
“It’s a challenge for us to pass it to the next generation. There is a need for young farmers to stand up in this sector. The bright ideas of our young farmers should be integrated in this program,” he stressed.
The congress also provided a platform for an open forum, facilitating dynamic exchanges of ideas and insights. Attendees grabbed the opportunity to further delve into the presented topics, seek clarification, and contribute their own perspectives.
