Mayor Benjamin Magalong issued Executive Order No. 123-A, series of 2021, authorizing the temporary closure of both lanes of Session Road last October 3 for the Session Road Sunday Market Showcase.
The Mayor issued an earlier measure ordering the same for all Sundays of September but the activity on the last Sunday, September 26, was deferred due to the sudden escalation of Baguio’s community quarantine status to General Community Quarantine with heightened restrictions.
To make up for this, the Mayor issued the latest executive order for the October 3 activity to benefit the city’s eager entrepreneurs and other frequent participants with strict observance of minimum public health standards (MPHS).
In each showcase, the Baguio City Police Office’s traffic management was tasked to come up with appropriate routing schemes and safety measures for the closure of Session Road while the BCPO and the Public Order and Safety Division ensured the observance of MPHS , safe, peace and order at the event.
The City Engineering Office was directed to provide appropriate signs, markers and dividers to fully inform the general public of vehicular traffic arrangements while the City Planning and Development Office and City Tourism Office were ordered to coordinate with participants and collate the necessary information for a post-assessment report to be submitted to the City Council.
The Market Showcase is in line with the city government’s thrust to strengthen its livelihood and entrepreneurial services as part of its 15 point core agenda towards good governance.
