A 24-year old lass from Surigao City, Surigao del Norte will serve as the top graduating cadet of the Baging Sinag Class of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) on Sunday, May 19, 2024.
The top graduating cadet is cadet first class Jeneth B. Elumba who will be graduating as magna cum laude and will be receiving the Presidential Saber from President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr..
Aside from the aforesaid award, she will also be receiving the Philippine Army Saber, JUSMAG Saber, Australian Defense Best Overall Performance Award (ARMY), Tactics Group Award and Army Professional Plaque.
Cadet first class Mark Armuel U. Boiles, 21, of Novaliches, Quezon City will be graduating as the class salutatorian. He will be receiving the Vice-Presidential Saber from Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte-Carpio, the Philippine Air Force Saber, Academic Group Award, Management Plaque, Air Force Professional Courses Plaque, Gen. Antonio Luna Award, Australian Defense Best Overall Performance Award (Air Force).
Placing third is cadet first class Kim Harold L. Gilo, 22, magna cum laude and a native of Villa Kananga, Butuan City. He will be receiving the Secretary of National Defense Secretary Saber, Philippine Navy Saber, Australian Defense Best Overall Performance Award (Navy) and Natural Sciences Plaque.
Cadet first class Cyril Joy J. Masculino, 22, of Nabua, Camarines Sur placed fourth and will be graduating as magna cum laude while cadet first class Rosemel B. Dogello, 21, cum laude, who hails from Jamindan, Capiz placed fifth.
Landing in sixth place is cadet first class Alexa Mye P. Valen, 21 from Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte while placing seventh is cadet first class Floyd Nino Arthur G. Roxas, 23 from Leganes, Iloilo. He will be receiving the Information Technology Plaque, Department of Leadership Plaque and Association of Generals and Flag Officers (AGFO) Award.
Placing eighth is cadet first class Giselle G. Tong, 22, of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan. She will also be receiving the Mathematics Plaque.
Cadet first class Danica Marie D. Viray, 23, of Villamor Air Base, Pasay City landed in ninth place. She will be graduating as cum laude.
Rounding up the top ten is cadet first class Neriva C. Binag, 22 of Ilagan, Isabela.
Some 278 cadets will be composing the 2024 Bagong Sinag Class where 224 are males and 54 are females.
144 cadets will be joining the Philippine Army, 72 cadets will be joining the Philippine Navy, and 62 cadets will be commissioned with the Philippine Air Force.
Of the 114 cadets joining the Philippine Army, 115 are males while 29 are females. In the case of those joining the Philippine Navy, 59 are males and 15 are females. There are also 50 males and 12 females joining the Philippine Air Force. By Dexter A. See
