LUNA, Apayao – Taking an active role in fast tracking completion of projects and effective implementation of programs, the Provincial Program Management and Implementation Unit (PPMIU) headed by Apayao Provincial Agriculturist Prudencio Bosing has convened this April 30, 2024 to address matters and concerns.
The agenda included the procurement timeline of Cabatacan–San Mariano–San Jose farm-to-market road (FMR), updating of Provincial Commodity Investment Plan (PCIP), packaging of feasibility Study for proposed I-Build subproject (Improvement of Cabetayan-Karagawan Farm to Market Road in Kabugao), status of I-REAP subprojects (Banana and Coffee Enterprises), and status of Warehouses Operation.
During the meeting, Engr. Henry B. Caluducan emphasized the need of coordination and periodical reports to ensure everything is on schedule to meet deadlines and requirements.
In the presentations and updates, it was mentioned that the construction of the FMR in Pudtol amounting to PhP153,293,000 with a length of 5.56 Kilometers shall commence in the third quarter this year. Eighty percent of the fund comes from the World Bank loan proceeds, 10 percent from the Department of Agriculture, and 10 percent from the provincial government. As for the Kabugao FMR, survey, site visit and other activities shall be done by the PPMIU in the next weeks to fulfill the requirements of funding.
Meantime, the Provincial Agriculture Offices and Services identified 12 priority commodities which are cultivated and maybe boosted in the areas covered by the abovementioned projects. These have been considered under value chain analysis. Some of these are coffee, banana, rice, corn, and even dairy products.
