TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Mayor Darwin C. Estrañero awarded this morning the wages of the beneficiaries of the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program of the Public Employment Service Office (PESO).
According to Francis Dale Biag of the PESO, the city government fully funded the PhP1.9 million funding requirement for the program intended to aid OFWs and locally displaced workers and help them cope with the economic distress caused by the pandemic. He added the PESO targets 500 beneficiaries for the program.
Under the TUPAD program, the beneficiaries are deployed in the vicinity of their residences for a period of ten days with a daily salary of 350 pesos. In addition, beneficiaries are also provided with a Red Cross insurance and personal sanitary equipment. They will be primarily engaged in the sanitation of their immediate neighborhood.
Recognizing the social and economic burden brought by the pandemic to the city’s constituents, Mayor Darwin C. Estrañero said that such program is part of the city’s plan geared towards economic recovery.
Meanwhile, the PESO is requesting present beneficiaries and interested applicants to coordinate with their office for their concerns on the program. By Jayson Antonio
