TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Tabuk City and Cauayan City forged a partnership on Smart City development with the end goal of creating sustainable, efficient, resilient, and livable cities for its residents through science, technology, and innovation.
The partnership was formalized through the signing of a Twinning Agreement during the second day of the International Smart City Exposition and Networking Engagement (iSCENE) with Cauayan City Mayor Ceasar Dy Jr. on March 24, 2023. Representing Mayor Darwin Estrañero were CPIO and Tabuk Smart City focal person Aurora Amilig, CPDO Maricel Kiley, CCEDO chief Karen Lee Uera, PESO chief Loyda Saboy, City PopDev chief Jonalyn Kiser, and OIC CDRRMO Raul Albert.
Aside from the Twinning Agreement, Tabuk City also entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Department of Science and Technology-Cordillera (DOST-CAR), DOST-Region 2, Isabela State University (ISU), and Kalinga State University (KSU) to cooperate and jointly implement existing DOST technologies and conceptualize and develop projects towards a Smart Tabuk City.
Witnessing the signing were DOST Secretary Renato Solidum Jr., DOST-Region 2 Regional Director Dr. Virginia Bilgera, DOST-Kalinga OIC PSTD Dexy Catacutan, and other stakeholders.
