TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The local government unit of this city is set to celebrate the yuletide season with gift giving, Christmas tree lighting and barangay decoration competition, and a concert at the park.
Dubbed as Paskuhan sa Barangay, the city employees will sponsor a gift-giving activity for the families from identified poorest barangays of Tabuk. Aside from the gifts, key offices will likewise be delivering general services to said barangays to help alleviate their economic situation.
With the 42 barangays as participants, a yuletide decoration contest is also being prepared on December under the Search for Huwarang Barangay. Said inter- barangay competition will be featuring recycled waste and indigenous materials, to be creatively crafted as decorations in the barangay. Said contest will be categorized as urban and rural areas. Each winner will get P50,000.00. Second Prize is P30,000.00 and P20,000.00 for the third placers for both categories.
Participating barangays will also get PhP35,000.00 as incentive to be utilized for their material recovery facility (MRF) projects.
To literary light up the Holiday Season, a Christmas Light A Tree activity is also staged on the 1st day of December. There would be a simultaneous lighting of Christmas trees strategically located in Barangay Nambaran, Calanan and Callagdao to be decorated by partner offices from the National Agencies and non-government organizations. The main Christmas tree will be placed at the City Hall compound to be lighted by the local officials.
A Christmas Fair featuring the city’s local products and a Concert at the Park will also be held in partnership with our local artist from the Kalinga Artists Society Inc. or (KASI) to be held at the City Hall Park.
During the City Development Council meeting with key department heads and chairpersons from the 42 barangays, Tabuk City Mayor Tubban encouraged the officials to ensure the full participation of their constituents to show the city’s unity during the Christmas Holiday to mark a new season of hope with festive decorations, Christmas lights and with every home illuminated with colorful display.
As designed, said activities hopes to promote unity, love and understanding in the community with the spirit of the season to make this holiday a remarkable event.
