TABUK CITY, Kalinga– The city is fast becoming an investment hub in Northern Luzon because of the availability of vast tracks of lands that could be developed by prospective investors wanting to expand their business operations in fast growing cities around the country.
Aside from serving as the rice granary of the Cordillera, Tabuk could become the future investment hub of various businesses after having been converted into a component city because of its bright potentials serving as a growth area to compliment the pace of development of Baguio City.
Mayor Darwin C. Estrañero claimed that aside from the ongoing development of the city’s public market, there are also 2 mall developers that have already signified their intention to establish their respective malls in their private properties in the city which will help generate jobs and enhance the economic activities and sources of livelihood of the people.
He pointed out that the local government remains open to possible investments that will be infused by businessmen in the city to help in paving the way for the gradual and safe revival of the local economy that was heavily impacted by the ongoing Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
The local chief executive admitted that there are virus investors that already signified their intention to establish their desired businesses in strategic areas around the city but such investments will be made public after the same had already been finalized and will be ready to be rolled out by the concerned parties.
According to him, there were various investment proposals that had been made available by proponents before pandemic but the same had been put on hold over the past 2 years since the implementation of the series of lockdowns to contain the rapid spread of the deadly virus in the country.
Mayor Estrañero expressed hope that the proponents will be able to recover from the effect of the pandemic and re-establish their linkage with the local government for the realization of their pre-pandemic proposals to sustain the city’s growth and development being one of the next wave cities in the country.
He stipulated that it will only be the local government that will serve as a source of employment if there will be no investors that will put up their businesses in the city that is why the concerned government agencies and the city government is bullish in enticing investors to establish their businesses in their desired areas around the city.
Apart from the put up of business establishments, he emphasized that there are also some companies that have proposed to put up renewable sources of energy in some parts of the city because of good potentials of the same that is why efforts are being done for the city to reach out to the said proponents to pursue their plans to ensure the availability of good paying jobs for the qualified residents.
Tabuk City is the third largest city in terms of land area as it is behind Davao City and Ilagan City.
