SAN JUAN, Abra – The Turismo Isulong Mo party-list group vowed to improve the components of the government’s Tourism Roads Improvement Program of Convergence (TRIPC) to ensure the building of quality infrastructure leading to potential tourist destinations around the country to ensure that foreign and domestic travelers will be enticed to visit such places.
Turismo Isulong Mo Party-list second nominee and former Mayor Marco Bautista pointed out that such a program should embark on a holistic approach to also ensure the improvement of amenities such as comfort rooms, view decks, and other related components, that will make the visit of travelers worthwhile.
He pointed out the need to further enhance the TRIPC to ensure it will addresses the issues and concerns raised by concerned stakeholders in the potential tourist destinations that are being eyed to be inter-connected with the prime tourist destinations in the different regions.
The Tourism Isulong Mo second nominee asserted that tourism is one of the country’s major economic drivers, especially with the ongoing easing up of the community quarantine restrictions, as its trickle down effect is around 8 times that is why concerned government agencies and local governments must be able to identify their priority destinations that should be developed to boost the tourist arrivals in their respective areas of jurisdiction.
According to him, the significant increase in domestic travels and foreign arrivals following the easing up of restrictions have contributed in the gradual and safe revival of the heavily impacted industry as tourism is among the sectors that were allowed to operate only a few months ago.
Bautista lauded the tenacity and resilience of the tourism industry stakeholders that is why the country’s tourism industry will surely have a bright future with the mobility of domestic and foreign travelers wanting to visit their favorite destinations and witness the changes in these places over the past 2 years of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
He stipulated that owners of tourism establishments were able to hold their ground during the implementation of the series of lockdowns that nearly led to the stoppage of their operations but the latest developments have shown that tourism will be one of the first sectors that will recover from the pandemic because of the desire of people to move around.
On the other hand, he also noticed that tourist destinations were able to be refreshed and regreened during the 2-year lockdowns that is why it is worthy for people to start enjoying the changes in their favorite destinations.
The Turismo Isulong Mo Party-list group is listed No. 156 in the order of party-list organizations permitted by the Commission on Election (Comelec) to run for the available seats in the House of Representatives that had been earmarked for the party-list groups during the upcoming May 9, 2022 synchronized national and local elections for the same to be able to advance the interest of the country’s tourism sector.
