TADIAN, Mountain Province – Two teenagers died after they reportedly drowned when they went on a swimming activity at the Gawaan lake in Banao, here, Sunday afternoon.
The victims were identified as Flander Bulaglag Tipac and Wilmar Laguitan Padongay, both 13, Grade 8 students of Dacudac National High School, and residents of Lenga, Tadian, Mountain Province.
According to reports, the two teenagers went for a swim at Gawaan Lake in Bana-ao, Tadian. At around 3:00 PM, Witnesses narrated to probes that they was the two students drowning while they were swimming in the said river.
The incident was reported to the Tadian Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO). The MDRRMO together with the Radian Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Police Regional Mobile Force Battalion and the Tadian Municipal Police immediately launched a search and retrieval operation.
They were joined by volunteers from the community.
At 4:00 PM, the responders found the body of Tipac. Then four hours later, Padongay’s body was also found.
Investigation on the incident is still in progress.
