Data from the Cooperative Development Authority-Cordillera Administrative Region Extension Office (CDA-CAREO) indicate a slight decrease in compliance to reportorial requirements. About 597 cooperatives secured Certificate of Compliance (COC) last 2019 as compared to 601 in 2018. . However, there was a noted 3% increase in the number of Audited Financial Statements (AFS) submitted from 527 submitted AFS in 2018 to 542 in 2019. Consolidated total assets increased by 19% from P 20.61 billion in 2017 to P 24.63 billion in 2018.
CDA records indicated that Benguet topped the list 233 issued COC followed by Baguio-130; Kalinga-70; Mountain Province-51; Ifugao-44; Abra-38; and Apayao-31. In terms of submitted audited financial statements, Benguet had 208 AFS; Baguio-125; Kalinga-62; Mountain Province-48; Ifugao-444; Abra-35; and Apayao-20.
Categorization of cooperatives based on submitted 2018 AFS indicated an increase in the number of large cooperatives from 45 in 2017 to 47 in 2018. The graduation of medium cooperatives to large, small to medium and micro to small affected the status of cooperatives in CAR. Current data indicated that there are 81 medium cooperatives as compared to 77 in 2017. About 142 small cooperatives as compared to 131 in 2017; and about 272 micro cooperatives as compared to 284 micro cooperatives in 2017 . This indicate increasing trends in assets as some graduated from micro to small, small to medium, and medium to large.
Finally, in terms of consolidated total assets, Benguet leads with a total of 6.53 billion owned by 208 cooperatives followed by Baguio City, 6.13 billion owned 125 cooperatives; Ifugao, 3.85 billion owned by 44 cooperatives; Mt. Province, 3.22 billion with 47 cooperatives; Kalinga, 3.13 billion with 62 cooperatives; Abra, 1.56 billion with 35 cooperatives and Apayao, .21 billion owned by 20 cooperatives. The increasing trend goes with the vision that the growth of the business enterprises anchored on the premise that cooperatives are capitalized; owned; operated and patronized by members.
