BAGUIO CITY – Some 40 barangay officials and homeowners in Maria Basa, Pacdal are now up in arms against the operation of a housing and condominium developer because of its alleged continuous definance in complying with earlier agreements so as not to disturb them while sleeping at night.
In a petition forwarded to Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan, the petitioners sought the assistance of the local chief executive in compelling DMCI Homes Baguio to strictly comply with their commitments to refraim in making use of construction machineries producing annoying and bothersome noise, aggravating stress and annoyance, especially that the housing and subdivision project is located within a residential area.
“The commitments of the housing developer were arrived at during the previous dialogues held at Pacdal barangay and at the office of the city mayor and among the undersigned were barangay officials and DMCI Homes personnel,” the petition stated.
Letters of complaints, police blotters and minutes of meetings in relation to such agreements in relation to the commitments of the developer not to use noisy units of machineries were attached to the petition to support their clamor for the intervention of the city mayor in order to put an end to their dilemma.
IN his letter to Engr. Rumzel Dionisio, DMCI Homes Baguio, Mayor Domogan reminded the housing developer to comply with its commitments in order to prevent the problem from escalating and ensure harmonious relationship between the community and the developer considering that they will be neighybros in the area forever.
The petitioners claimed that the developer should refraim from using noisy units of equipment in their project site not later than 6 pm and for their construction activities to supposed to stop at 10 pm daily during the period of construction.
Domogan said that failure of the developer to comply with such commitment will constrain the local government to implement the appropriate rules and regulations governing their operation and impose the appropriate penalties for their continuous violations.
It can be recalled that residents in Maria Basa, Pacdal complained to the barangay and the police because of the noise pollution emanating from the units of machineries used by the developer in its project site within the area and concerned parties have agreed to fix the time of the developer’s operation so as not to disturb the villagers living in the communities surrounding the project.
Domogan is optimistic that the developer and the concerned petitioners will solve the existing conflict in order for them to establish a harmonious working relationship after the issues and concerns shall have been addressed DMCI Homes Baguio is currently building a condominium project within the vicinity of Maria Basa, Pacdal in order to serve s one of its major housing and condominium project.
