LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – A wanted person, who went on hiding for 26 years and carries a P100,000 reward for his arrest, was successfully collared by combined police operatives and intelligence agents in his hideout in the Visayas recently.
Police Col. Leon Talleo, regional chief of the Cordillera office of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG-CAR), identified the arrested wanted person as Ariel Casullar Sidlacan who went on hiding for 26 years after having been charged for kidnapping and serious illegal detention.
The suspect allegedly kidnapped a 10-year old female and deprived her of liberty for over five years that paved the way for his being charged for the said crime.
He was issued a warrant of arrest by Judge Ruben Ayson of the city’s Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 6 on June 3, 1998 for the crime of kidnapping and serious illegal detention with no bail recommended for his temporary liberty.
Talleo said that the suspect went on hiding in different parts of the country over the past 26 years after learning that he was issued a warrant of arrest for the said crime.
The arrested wanted individual was brought to the CIDG-CAR regional headquarters for processing and documentation prior to his turnover to the issuing court for the proper disposition of the case that was filed against him. By Dexter A. See
