TUBLAY, Benguet – Benguet Caretaker Congressman and Anti-Crime and Terrorism through Community Involvement and Support (ACT-CIS) Party-list Rep. Eric Yap assured the people of the province that more farm to market roads and roads leading to remote villages will be constructed by the government to ensure that development will be cascaded to the grassroots level.

Yap, who graced the inauguration of the 20-bed isolation unit in Barangay Ambongdolan, stated that the construction of farm to market roads will target areas leading to various tourist destinations in the province so that the approach will be strategic and will contribute in enhancing the economic activities that will provide job opportunities and additional sources of livelihood of the people so that they will not converge in urban centers and contribute to the increasing problems of urban areas.

For this year, the lawmaker disclosed that the P200 million each that was earmarked for the opening of the roads leading to Tacadang, Kibungan and Kayapa, Bakun are now being implemented and that more road projects leading to areas that are not connected by roads will be included in the future budgets of the government so that development will continue to flourish provincewide for the benefit of the great majority of the populace.

He pointed out that roads inter-connecting the rural and urban areas in the province so that people will be enticed to pursue their economic activities in potential areas of development so that there will be alternative jobs that will be generated for the people aside from providing sustainable sources of livelihood for them.

According to him, there will be similar road opening projects that will be implemented in various parts of the province that need inter-connecting roads that is why there will be bright prospects of development in the remote areas of the province in the future, especially after the completion of the roads leading to Tacadang and Kayapa barangays.

Congressman Yap underscored that the improvement of farm to market roads will translate to the convenient mobility of goods and services from the farms to the markets that will result to the much cheaper prices of agricultural crops and increase in income for the farmers.

He pointed out that he is just replicating the warm welcome that was accorded to him by the people of Benguet when he was appointed as the province’s caretaker congressman, thus, he is working hard to source out the appropriate assistance from concerned government agencies to provide adequate funds to implement high impact development projects even in the rural areas of the province.

Aside from the provision of funds for the implementation of high impact development projects provincewide, Congressman Yap claimed that the delivery of health care and social services to the people will continue and will be further improved this year and the coming years because he wants the people to reap the fruits of government services beneficial in uplifting the greater majority of the populace.

He emphasized that what is important for him is people in the grassroots level will be able to benefit from the unanimous services of concerned government agencies so that they will not be left out in the efforts of the bureaucracy to reach out to the people living in far flung communities.
