LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The Office of Benguet caretaker congressman and Anti-Crime and Terrorism through Community Involvement and Support (ACT-CIS) Party-list Rep. Eric Go Yap formally turned over to the 13 municipalities the second wave of rice subsidy that will be used to augment the relief assistance being given out to the vulnerable and marginalized sectors in their areas of jurisdiction.
The second wave of rice subsidy from Congressman Yap was composed of some 40 cavans of the staple food that were released to the different municipal mayors which was done at the congressional district office recently.
Earlier, the lawmaker, through his Chief of Staff Kevin Edward See, turned over to the 13municipal mayors 38 cavans of Thailand rice for each of the municipalities that served as the initial wave of assistance from his office to augment the existing relief assistance of the local governments that were distributed to the identified beneficiaries in their localities.
Yap embraced a multi-pronged approach in providing assistance not only to the people of Benguet but also those who are in need of similar aid from other parts of the country where part of the said assistance is being coursed through the municipal governments.
Aside from the provision of appropriate assistance to the concerned local governments, the congressman also launched in Twin Peaks, Tuba, Benguet his concept of the mobile ‘tulong’ program where assorted relief goods were distributed to the residents of the said barangay.
Previously, yap committed to purchase certain volume of vegetables that will either be distributed in the different parts of the province that need such supply or those from other areas in Luzon that also need the same for the provision of the relief supply to the people.
The Chief of Staff claimed that side from utilizing his personal resources to extend assistance to the vulnerable and marginalized sectors of the province, Congressman Yap is also making the needed representations to concerned government agencies to provide whatever available support that will be provided to the people to allow them to cope with the effects of the prevailing crisis, especially to the economy and the sources of livelihood of the affected sectors.
Yap assured the people of Benguet that his office will continue exemplifying the delivery of quality services to them even beyond the ongoing implementation of the Luzonwide enhanced community quarantine.
Part of the future assistance that will be extended to the people of the province include vitamins for the senior citizens among other services that could be included in the mobile ‘ tulong’ program so that the same will be delivered right in the different municipalities so that the people will not have a difficult time accessing the said assistance.
Yap had also been extending assistance to individuals and groups in the province that signified their intention to help in the provision of whatever available assistance to the heavily impacted sectors during the quarantine period so that they will be able to slowly recover once the same will be lifted on a modified basis to allow the country’s economy to partially move until such time that the situation normalizes.
