ITOGON, Benguet – A 58-year old barangay kagawad died after his vehicle plunged into a 70-meter deep ravine in the washed out portion of the road at 1st Gate Ucab here recently.
Superintendent Cherry Fajardo, public information officer of the Police Regional Office (PRO) in the Cordillera, identified the victim as John Banoye Nabuye, 58, married, barangay kagawad and a resident of Ucab, Itogon, Benguet.
Initial police investigation showed the victim was driving his Pajero en route towards Tram when upon reaching the washed out portion of the road, he suddenly lost control of his vehicle forcing it to plunge into a 70-meter deep ravine in the area.
The victim sustained multiple head and body injuries as a result of the accident and was rushed to the Notre Dame hospital in Baguio City but expired after several hours of medical treatment. His vehicle was reportedly totally wrecked due to the impact of its fall into the ravine.
The victim’s cadaver was brought home by his relatives to his residence for him to be given a descent burial.
