LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – A drug personality was arrested while more than P700,000 worth of illegal drugs were confiscated by combined police operatives and anti-narcotics agents in separate anti-illegal drug operations in Kalinga and Benguet over the weekend.
In Kalinga, the joint operatives from the Regional Intelligence Division (RID), Tabuk City Police Station (CPS), 1st Kalinga Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) and Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15, implemented a search warrant in Purok 5, Bulanao, Tabuk City that resulted in the arrest of a 35-year-old male tricycle driver after 14 sachets of suspected shabu weighing approximately 3.0 grams with a Standard Drug Price (SDP) of P20,400.00 and assorted drug paraphernalia were discovered from his residence.
The markings and inventory of the pieces of evidence seized were done onsite in the presence of media representative, Herminigilda Chico; DOJ representative, Ken Jane Dalipog; and Barangay Kagawad Gaspar Edduba of Bulanao Centro.
The arrested suspect was brought to the custody of Tabuk CPS for documentation and proper disposition.
Meanwhile, in Benguet, the joint operatives from Kibungan MPS, Bakun MPS, 1st Benguet PMFC, Provincial Intelligence Unit, Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, RID, and PDEA-CAR conducted a series of marijuana eradication operations that led to the discovery of 3,000 pieces of fully grown marijuana plants with an SDP of P600,000.00 and 2,000 pieces of marijuana seedlings with an SDP amounting to P80,000.00 in barangay Kayapa, Bakun and barangay Tacadang, Kibungan.
All the discovered marijuana plants were burned after proper documentation, while follow-up operations are underway to locate other marijuana plantation sites and cultivators. By Dexter A. See
