TUBA, Benguet – A truck driver died while his two helpers were injured after their dump truck allegedly suffered from mechanical trouble, bumped the side of the viaduct sidings before resting on the pavement at Badiwan, here, Sunday night.
Police authorities identified the fatality as Ferdinand Mano Wakit, legal age, married, native of Philex, Tuba, Benguet and a resident of Pimingan, Ansagan, Tuba, Benguet while the injured truck helpers were named as Rando Mano Marano, 38, single, a resident of Ansagan, Tuba and Ser-ayen Cabat Masada, 20, single, native of Bangued, Abra.
Initial police investigation showed the truck was travelling along Marcos highway when it suddenly suffered from mechanical trouble causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle until it bumped into the side of the structure and rested on the pavement.
The three occupants were immediately rushed to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) for medical treatment but the driver was pronounced dead on arrival by attending physicians due to serious physical injuries while his two companions were confined in the same hospital for further medical observation.
