BAGUIO CITY – Twelve newly appointed and promoted employees of the Department of Agriculture–Cordillera (DA-CAR) were sworn into office on September 4, 2023 at Guisad. Baguio City to serve the public with integrity and excellence.
The appointees are Engr. Miriam B. Pastor (Senior Agriculturist), Angeline N. Kalngan (Science Research Specialist II), Jodelyn S. Sukaw (Science Research Specialist II), May Ann C. Aplaten (Project Evaluation Officer II), Jayvee P. Canor (Agriculturist II), Haily G. Patnaan (Agriculturist II), Ryan O. Ranille (Planning Officer II), Magdalena B. Capis (Agriculturist I), Octaviano P. Calantas (Agriculturist I), Jhazelyn M. Mang-osan (Administrative Officer II – HRMO I), May-Anne B. Casapao (Administrative Assistant III), and Theodore Jr. M. Reyes (Project Evaluation Assistant).
During the ceremony, DA-CAR OIC-Regional Executive Director (OIC-RED) Atty. Jennilyn M. Dawayan congratulated and advised the appointees, especially the new entrants as well as the applicants for the filled position. “It is indeed a challenge because you will have to show more of your talents. Because you are talented, you are chosen and appointed, which is why your appointment was signed by the Senior Undersecretary. But let me also point out to those who have not been appointed that this is not the last. We have a lot of positions to open in the future. This does not diminish your personality, or your ability to do your duties and responsibilities. I hope this will serve as an inspiration for you to do better. Please do not feel tired of applying as there are employees who will retire or get promoted. It is up to you to make yourself relevant,” she said.
She continued to stress, “And even though you already got promoted, you must continue to show more of your capabilities for a higher position you will be applying for. If you become stagnant in the accomplishment that you had when you claimed your current position, then you will stay in that position, and then the others might surpass you,” adding that they must continue to assist the management in achieving the goals of the agency in assuring the commitment of agricultural reform in the Cordillera.
Atty. Dawayan also congratulated the family members who constantly support their families.” It is not only ‘behind a man’s success is a woman’. It is also a mother behind the success of their child and a husband behind his wife. I am very happy that they are witnessing the success and milestones in your careers,” she expressed.
Meanwhile, Ms. Aplaten in her address shared her experiences in applying for a permanent position multiple times for a very long time. “Nevertheless, persistence is the key. Keep striving to achieve your objectives. It might entail disappointment and self-doubt, but at least you can take pride in the fact that you gave it all and never gave up,” she said and expressed her heartfelt gratitude for everyone who supported her journey in her career.
Further, Engr. Pastor, on behalf of all the appointees, also expressed her gratitude for the love and support that their families, friends, colleagues, and mentors have given them. She specifically thanked the directors and former RED Cameron Odsey for the support and encouragement that pushed their capabilities further. “Sometimes we are being criticized for our performance, but we accept it as a challenge and as a positive criticism to make ourselves more productive. And our organization’s commitment to fostering growth and recognizing talents is truly commendable. It is an environment that encourages innovations, excellence, and personal development and I am privileged to be a part of it,” she expressed. By CEWaytan
