SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union — The month-long celebration of statistics’ contribution to progress in Region 1 officially wrapped up on Friday at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas-La Union Branch here.
The Regional Statistics Committee (RSC) Ilocos under the Regional Development Council (RDC) Ilocos and the Philippine Statistics Authority-Regional Statistical Services Office 1 (PSA-RSSO 1), as the primary organizers of the 34th National Statistics Month (NSM), conferred the champions in the regional contests, and the provincial statistics implementer winners.
RSC chairperson and National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Ilocos office-in-charge Regional Director Irenea Ubungen, represented by NEDA Assistant Regional Director Raquel Atawe, thanked the provinces’ commitment in statistics.
“We look forward to working together as we continue to strive in providing relevant and reliable statistics that can help in the formulation of policies, strategies, and decision-making of the government towards our goal to a healthier Region 1,” Atawe added.
Champions in various competitions performed during the closing ceremony such as the champions for the jingle and dance contests including La Union National High School for the secondary level and Pangasinan State University-Asingan Campus for the tertiary level.
Likewise, oratorical contest winners namely Jevin Kyle Ballesteros of Dingras National High School in Ilocos Norte and Anie Sophia Garlejo of Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University-South La Union Campus in La Union also performed.
Other champions aside from those who performed were also awarded such as John Patrick Calma (Ilocos Norte) in infographics making, Nerish Ballesteros (Ilocos Norte) in the secondary essay writing contest, Princess Kyra Rebulla (Ilocos Sur) in the tertiary essay writing contest, and Amelia Flor Rosario (Pangasinan) in the employee essay writing contest.
Also conferred were the champions in the secondary statistics quiz from Ilocos Sur National High School and the tertiary statistics quiz, the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University-South La Union Campus.
The event also awarded La Union as champion in the Search for NSM Best Province Implementer.
Following La Union is Pangasinan as first runner-up, Ilocos Sur as second runner-up, and Ilocos Norte as third runner-up.
Governor Raphalle Veronica Ortega-David remarked on the vital contributions of all who worked hard in this attainment.
“It has been an exciting celebration, since we have secured our third year in a row as the best implementer of NSM Month Celebrations. Overall, I am pleased by the resounding success of this remarkable achievement,” Ortega-David said.
