SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – The conduct of this year’s Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE 2023) in the Ilocos Region on Monday was generally peaceful, the Police Regional Office 1 (PRO1) said.
PRO1 Regional Director, PBGEN John Chua said the success of the BSKE 2023 is a product of the commitment of all government agencies and stakeholders towards an orderly and peaceful election.
“With this laudable accomplishment, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all the security forces, especially to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), the Commission on Elections, and our friendly forces and stakeholders for their cooperation in transpiring a successful and peaceful BSKE,” Chua said.
He added that the peaceful conduct of the election is also attributed to the series of contingency planning of all members of the Regional Joint Security Control Center; proper deployment of police personnel to the polling centers and quick reaction teams; intensified conduct of focused police operations; and designation of red teams to oversee and supervise the implementation of the security plan in all political districts of the four provinces in the region.
Based on the records, a total of 6,878 PRO 1 personnel, 419 personnel from AFP and 130 from PCG were deployed in warehouses and hubs, as well as in Voting Centers and Election Monitoring Action Centers regionwide to ensure and secure the 2023 BSKE.
Quick reaction teams and reserved forces were also made on alert for immediate response.
Meanwhile, after the peaceful conduct of elections, PRO 1 accelerates its security measures and sustains its deployment for the observance of Undas.
