BAGUIO CITY – More than five hundred English teachers from the country and across Southeast Asia will converge in the city for the first-ever International English Teachers Conference (INETCON) which will be held on August 18-20 at the Teachers Camp.
Ace Estrada II, VIVIXX Academy president and Calle Uno managing director, said that the INETCON is an international event bringing together hundreds of English language educators and policy-makers from across the country and Southeast Asia to discuss issues and concerns affecting the teaching of the English language.
Further, delegates from the Department of Education, Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) as well as the English as a Second Language (ESL) and the business process outsourcing management association or the call center groups will also be joining the said event.
Estrada explained the INETCON will also coincide with the launching of the oral proficiency interview test in the Philippines and the direct hiring of the first oral proficiency interview raters of the United States by the American Council on the Teaching of foreign Languages.
Keynote speakers during the 3-day gathering will include Senator Juan Edgardo Angara, chairman of the Senate committee on education, arts and culture, Deputy Director-General Diosdado O. Padilla of TESDA, Undersecretary Benito C. Bengzon, Jr. of the Department of Tourism and Executive Director Penny S. Bongato of the IT and Business Process Association of the Philippines.\
Included in the line up of activities on August 18, 2017 will be the registration of participants, exhibits, jobs fair, ESL school tour , dinner and concert.
On August 19, 2017, there will be plenary sessions and workshops while there will be the American Council on the Teaching of foreign Language trainings and awarding ceremonies on August 20, 2017.
Estrada explained for the first time, the three government agencies responsible for education, Dep Ed, CHED and TESDA, will converge in the unprecedented activity to discuss problems and intervention measures and solutions in Filipino English oral proficiency with the input of the ESL and call center industry.
Organizers will be charging the interested participants P3,500 for the duration of the event that will include lunch and snacks, conference handbook and certificate of participation.
Estrada is encouraging interested participants to register the soonest to avail of the available slots that had been earmarked for the said event, saying that the registration of participants will be on a first come, first serve basis.
