LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Some 50 exciting events were lined up by the provincial government to celebrate Benguet’s 117th founding anniversary and Adivay festival.
The theme of this year’s festivities is “Benguet Culture, Our Future: Sustaining Cultural Identity Amidst Global Changes.”
The festivities will kick off on November 13, 2017 where there will be a program to be followed by a press conference for the Search for Mr. and Ms. Benguet.
The famous agro-industrial trade will be opened on November 14, 2017 at the Benguet Sports Complex which will be capped with the Adivay Unplugged Acoustic Night at the trade fair area. The Acoustic Night will be preceded by a mass wedding at the multipurpose gymnasium and the first day of the Benguet job fair at the Palispis Hall and a medical-dental mission at the Itogon District Hospital.
On November 15, 2017, a potato fiesta will be held at the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) building within the sports complex followed by the 2nd day of the jobs fair and a medical mission at the covered court of the complex.
A land congress will be conducted at the Palispis Hall on November 16, 2017 which will be capped by a battle of the bands at the sports complex grandstand.
On November 17, 2017, a health fair will be conducted at the cold chain area simultaneous with the conduct of the feminism and democracy to be participated in women leaders in Benguet at the Provincial governor’s conference room and capped by the Search for Mr. and Ms. Benguet pre-pageant at the Palispis hall.
Nine events are lined up for November 18, 2017 wherein it will start with the Farmer’s Event at the Sports Complex Bagsakan area followed by the 1st Benguet cultural dance exchange, horse parade, cowboy’s night, arnis tournament, Summer Sprint, bodybuilding competition and Kapangan Foundation Anniversary.
On November 19, 2017, biking enthusiasts will be joining the bike run followed by a gospel art show and Summer Sprint along the Shilan-Beckel national road while on November 20, 2017, the activities will include small and medium enterprise forum and congress at the Palispis Hall, children’s event through the Philippine Folk Dance competition and gospel art show at the trade fair area.
Small-scale miners will have their congress on November 21, 2017 simultaneous with the conduct of the provincial skills competition among miners, Benguet Awards Night at the Palispis Hall, Benguet Talent or Smart Day and the Kibungan Founding Anniversary.
An eye screening checkup will kick off the events on November 22, 2017 to be done simultaneously with the Awards and Recognition Day of those that participated in the Clean, Green and Bloom Campaign, music arts festival, Atok founding anniversary, Tublay Founding Anniversary and Sablan Founding Anniversary.
During the province’s founding anniversary on November 23, 2017, the day will start with a civic-military parade followed by the foundation program and a canao.
On November 24, 2017, there will be a Coop Weavers forum, Coronation Night of the Search for Mr. and Ms. Benguet, Closing of the agro-industrial fair, Environmental forum and Kasibulan at the Benguet State University football field while on November 25, 2017, the day will start with sports events like taekwondo, Muay Thai and high school musical contest and battle of the bands.
The celebration will end up with the Highland Brawl boxing competition at the Cordillera Career Development College gymnasium after the closing of the trade fair and the closing of the activities for the province’s anniversary.
