BONTOC, Mountain province – Six local governments in the province were recently conferred the prestigious Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) which is a testament of the real practice of good governance among local officials.
Mountain Province and the towns of Bauko, Besao, Tadian, Sabangan and Bontoc were all recipients of the SGLG which is being given by the Department of the Interior and Local government (DILG) who are able to comply with the indicators of all the 10 parameters of governance.
Gov. Bonifacio C. Lacwasan, Jr. said that the SGLG award will serve as an inspiration and motivation to the originals and employees of the provincial government to further elevate the delivery of services to the people to a higher level for the province to be able to sustain the same in the coming years.
He stated that officials and employees should not be complacent with the award because there will surely be innovations that will be incorporated in the updated guidelines of the SGLG that will make the competition among local governments much stiffer.
For his part, Tadian Mayor Constito Masweng claimed that the local government is humbled by the award and that they will use the same as a basis to assess and evaluate where officials and employees will have to work on further enhancing the services that will benefit the greater majority of the populace.
Mayor Masweng expressed his gratitude to all those who in one way or the other contributed their time, effort and resources that resulted to the local government being conferred the award.
On the other hand, Bauko Mayor Randy Awisan pointed out that the SGLG award will be an added feather on the cap of the municipal government having been a recipient of similar awards in the past.
According to Mayor Awisan, municipal officials and employees will continue performing their assigned duties and responsibilities that will redown to the welfare of the greater majority of the populace even without the said award because what matters is that people will be fully satisfied with the way the programs, projects and activities of the municipality are being executed.
Bontoc Mayor Jerome Chagsen Tudlong, Jr. underscored that what matters is that the municipal government is providing the people the quality of service that will merit their trust and confidence to the present leaders.
As a first term local chief executive, Mayor Tudlong emphasized that the municipal government will surely embrace more innovations in the coming years that will translate to the efficient and effective delivery of services to the people and the quality implementation of programs, projects and activities from which residents and visitors alike stand to benefit from.
Sabangan Mayor Marcial Lawilao, Jr. draws inspiration from the people in ensuring the timely delivery of services pursuant to the guidelines of the SGLG and that the local government also goes beyond the standards in the execution of their own programs, projects and activities considering the fast-changing times.
