PUDTOL, Apayao – The Provincial Health Office (PHO) distributed PhP740,000 worth of cash incentives to accredited barangay health workers (BHWs) and barangay nutrition scholars (BNSs) at the EKB Gymnasium in Poblacion, Pudtol, Apayao last December 19, 2023.
A total of 148 BHWs and BNSs benefited in the said undertaking with each recipient receiving PhP5,000 along with kits containing boots, umbrellas, and uniforms.
BHWs and BNSs play a crucial role in delivering health services, providing basic health education, and offering selected primary health care services at the barangay level. They serve as a vital link between the community and health provider facilities, diligently conducting day-to-day household visits and fulfilling their duties in assigned healthcare facilities.
To acknowledge the commitment and dedication of said barangay workers, the provincial government decided to provide additional incentives to all accredited BHWs and BNSs across the province, following a designated schedule per municipality.
These incentives are a simple token of appreciation for the heroic services displayed during times of crisis and the dedication to their roles as health advocates in their respective barangays and aim is to motivate and encourage them to continue their valuable work in promoting community health and well-being.
