BONTOC, Mountain Province – The provincial government expressed its gratitude to the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation in the Cordillera for donating to the provincial government two second-hand vehicles which are useful in enhancing the delivery of basic services to the people in the different parts of the province.
Gov. BonifacioLacwasan, Jr. expressed the province’s sincerest gratitude to PhilHealth regional director lawyer Jerry Ibay for working out the donation of the vehicles to the local government last month.
“We commend Atty. Ibay for having successfully worked out the donation so that our officials and employees will be able to increase their presence, especially in the areas that need the delivery of basic services from not only national government agencies but also the concerned local governments,”Lacwasan stressed.
The governor said one of the donated vehicles was given to the Besao District Hospital while the other vehicle will remain with the Provincial Governor’s office to help in improving the delivery of services to the different parts of the province.
The donated vehicles were the previous service vehicles of the health insurance corporation that were replaced after its management decided to change their vehicles for the effective and efficient delivery of their services in the different parts of the region.
Lacwasan urged the recipients of the donated vehicles to properly maintain the same so that the vehicles will be able to reach their maximum economic life and that the services of government reach the grassroots level through the efforts of the offices that will be using them for their various programs and projects.
He said he elected the Besao District Hospital to be the recipient of one of the donated serviceable vehicles for the health workers to be able to attend to calls for emergency in the various parts of the municipality.
According to him, the provincial government welcomes whatever donations given by government and private offices because the local government needs sufficient materials and units of equipment to serve the needs of the people of the province.
PhilHealth is one of the government instrumentalities that established its provincial office in the province to cater to the health insurance needs of the people from the different parts of the province over the past several years.
Lacwasan believes on the need for the provincial government to actively partner with various government and private organizations to make sure that there will be a sustained implementation of priority development projects in the identified priority areas provincewide aside from contributing to efforts of enhancing basic service delivery to the people, especially those from the remoter areas who direly need such interventions for them to be healthy and productive citizens.
