KABUGAO, Apayao – A 41-year old farmer died after he was shot by another farmer during a commotion while attending a wake at Kumao, here, Saturday.
Police authorities identified the fatality as Aquino Bagiw Annon, 41, married and a resident of Kumao, Kabugao, Apayao.
Initial police investigation showed that there was a commotion that transpired in a wake in their place when Nemesio Maldan shot Kerby Annon on his elbow.
In retaliation. Kerby then got a bolo and hacked the former on his forehead and chest and fled after the incident.
Mario Maldan the chased Kerby and fired his homemade shotgun to the fleeing Annon.
During the continuous commotion, Mario then saw Aquino and shot him to death.
Responding police operatives were able to arrest Kerby inside his residence and confiscated from him the bolo that he used in the incident while Mario was also collared by the police but the firearm used was not longer recovered.
The police operatives were able to recover an empty shell and 4 live ammunitions of a homemade shotgun that was placed inside a belt bag that was recovered from Mario.
The motive of the incident was said to be a long standing land dispute between the involved parties.
