Paracelis, Mountain Province – A labourer of a local contractor died while eight others were injured after their truck suffered mechanical trouble and fell on its left side along the Paracelis, Tabuk road, particularly at Pangdan, Bacarri, here Sunday.
Senior Superintendent Cornelio Comila, officer-in-charge of the Mountain Province Police Office, identified the fatality as Jerome Aquino, a native of Pangasinan and a labourer of Diaz Construction while the injured laborers and driver were Jefferson Madaryong Lengua, 28, and a resident of Samoki, Bontoc, Mountain Province and Armando Mercado; Kolas Eria; Dadong Eria; Ekong Gabriel; Ruben Libres; and certain Tabayuyong aka “Lakay”, all laborers of DIAZ Construction and residents of San Manuel, Pangasinan.
Initial police investigation should the laborers were on board the Pracelis-bound truck when it suddenly suffered from mechanical trouble while descending along a portion of the road until the driver lost control of the vehicle causing it to fall on its left side.
As a result of the incident, the vehicle occupants sustained multiple injuries on their heads and bodies.
The said individuals were rushed to the Paracelis District Hospital and the Tabuk City Hospital but the fatality was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians.
