LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Two former members of the New Peoples Army (NPA) recently returned to the folds of the law as they voluntarily surrendered to the police authorities in Mountain Province and Abra.
Police Brig. Gen Mafelino A. Bazar, regional director of the Police Regional Office (PRO) in the Cordillera, said that the rebel returnee in Abra was a former member under Lumbaya Command while the rebel returnee in Mt. Province was a former member of a Communist Front Organization and also a member of the East Chico Line of Kilusang Larangang Guerilla (KLG) – Marco.
In Abra, the formal surrender of the aforesaid returnee was made after a series of negotiations led by the operatives of the 1st and 2nd Abra Provincial Mobile Force Companies (PMFC); Luba Municipal Police Station (MPS); and the 1504th Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15 (RMFB15).
While in Mt. Province, the formal surrender was made after a series of negotiations led by the operatives of the Natonin MPS; Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU); 2nd Mountain Province PMFC; Philippine Army’s 69th Infantry Brigade (69IB); and the 1502nd Maneuver Company of RMFB15.
Meanwhile, the rebel returnees are now under the custody of the respective operating units for custodial debriefing and proper disposition.
