TINGLAYAN, Kainga – More than P3 million worth of marijuana plants were successfully destroyed by combined police operatives and anti-narcotics agents during separate anti-illegal drug operations in barangay Loccong, here and other marijuana-producing areas in Benguet last Saturday.
In Kalinga, the joint operatives of 1st Kalinga Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC), Tinglayan Municipal Police Station (MPS), and Provincial Intelligence Unit/Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit (PIU/PDEU) discovered a total of 15,000 pieces of fully grown marijuana plants (FGMJP) with a Standard Drug Price of P3,000,000.00 in one marijuana plantation site in barangay Loccong, Tinglayan.
Meanwhile in Benguet, the separate marijuana eradication operations conducted by the operatives from Bakun MPS, Kibungan MPS, 1st Benguet PMFC, PIU/PDEU, Regional Intelligence Division, Regional Intelligence Unit-14, and PDEA-CAR resulted in the seizure of a total of 1,000 pieces of marijuana seedlings and 1,170 pieces of FGMJP with a combined value of P274,000.00 in the municipalities of Bakun and Kibungan.
All discovered marijuana plants were uprooted and burned onsite, with sufficient samples taken for submission to the Regional Forensic Unit-Cordillera, while operatives are currently conducting an intensive investigation to identify the cultivators and searching adjacent areas for potential marijuana plantation sites.
The PRO-CAR Regional Director, PBGen. David K. Peredo, Jr, lauded the operatives for their dedication and efforts in uncovering large-scale marijuana plantations.
