BAGUIO CITY – The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) in Cordillera, together with the National ICT Confederation of the Philippines (NICP) and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), is calling for entries of local government units (LGUs) with best practices in using information and communications technology (ICT) in their operations and delivery of public services.
“The Digital Governance Award (DGA) is an annual search to help stimulate e-Governance, particularly in the LGU-level, to engage more local government units and consequently, drive more inspiring stories and encourage more LGUs in involving and integrating ICT in their programs and solutions; to create better impact and perform their services better,” said Araceli San Jose, Regional Director of Cordillera office of the DILG.
She explained that the DGA shares the vision of establishing indices for local government units across the country in hopes of harnessing the potential of ICT towards raising the bar of delivering quality and efficient public service.
Noting, “By drawing attention to the best practices in integrating ICT capabilities and solutions, the different sectors of society, and local government units are enabled in their roles as catalysts of change,” she said.
“It also aims to commend and collate best practices of LGUs in integrating ICT in their processes to serve as example and benchmarks to other LGUs, to improve local business ecosystem motivating the private/business sector to actively participate and/or invest in the growth of the LGUs, and to promote transparency in local governance,” she said.
San Jose further explained that DGA has four (4) categories and are as follows: G2C Awards recognize the ICT-related initiatives of the LGU that cater to their individual constituents, customers, or clients.
The G2B Awards fetes ICT-related initiatives of the LGU that cater to the needs of business and business-related enterprises while G2G Awards – features the ICT-related initiatives of the LGU that promote interoperability among the different offices of and with the LGU.
Lastly, the G2I Awards recognizes the ICT-related initiatives of the LGU that aim to improve the internal process within the LGU.
The DGA is an annual search for best practices among local government units utilizing information and communications technology (ICT) to offer public services directly to their constituents and corporate stakeholders. DGA supports the objective of developing guides for local government entities around the country to use ICT to raise the standard in public service delivery.
Special Citation will also be given to one winner per LGU level. The Special Citations to be awarded this year are: Special Citation on Innovative Use of Resources which favors locally-developed systems and hopes to award LGUs with limited resources but are able to produce quality projects and Special Citation on Transformational and Disruptive Solutions – This favors LGUs that offer novel and unique solutions to societal issues.
The call for entries for the Digital Governance Awards 2022 is extended until October 15, 2022.
