SANTA MARCELA, Apayao – Apayao’s Project Butsy (Bringing Universal health care services Towards Sustainable program implementation Yielding to a resilient Yapayao) thru the UHC Caravan organized by the provincial government was conducted on August 8, 2023, at the Santa Marcela EKB Clubhouse to provide orientation on the Universal Health Care (UHC) Law as well as medical and health services to the people of Sta. Marcela.
Project Butsy is a concerted effort of various offices and agencies to bring fundamental medical and dental services to all yApayaos.
With the aid of the Rural Health Unit of Santa Marcela, the UHC Caravan was successfully concluded.
During the event, an orientation was done for municipal officials, municipal department heads, a representative from the educational community, a Philippine health representative, barangay health workers, barangay nutrition scholars, and barangay captains as the main implementers.
The revolutionary potential of the UHC Law in improving the whole health system was emphasized in the lectures and talks given.
Mayor Evelyn B. Martinez expressed gratitude for the event and coming of experts providing much needed information, “Malaking bagay po ito sa mga kababayan natin na walang pera pagpakonsulta, so with the assistance of UHC pwede na tayong magpakonsulta ng libre.”
UHC’s overarching goal is to assure fair access for all Filipinos to high-quality, cost-effective health care products and services as well as to protect them from financial risk. By Krizza Joy Castillo
