LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The Provincial School Board has set the deadline of application for the Provincial Scholarship to September 2, 2022.
Schedules for the interview and screening by the provincial committee will be arranged once the final list of student-applicants is complete.
Each barangay development council should select from the applicants who submitted their applications to the barangay government, the top three final student-candidates whom they will endorse through a resolution to the Provincial Governor’s Office.
Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas is reminding the 140 barangay development councils to fairly and honestly determine the most deserving student-applicants for the said scholarship program.
From the three applicants, one will be chosen through the screening process. Additionally, one slot for each of the 14 Dep-Ed Benguet Districts will be given to those who graduated from the Alternative Learning System (ALS) program, and four for those who have special skills in sports and technical skills that brought honour and prestige to the Province of Benguet.
Applicants from ALS and those who excelled in sports and technical skills are required to submit their requirements directly to the Governor’s Office.
This program is open only to incoming college students.
Qualifications for applicants are as follows: born in the Province of Benguet. However, an applicant born outside of Benguet may be considered only if he or she was born thereat in time of emergency or for purposes of giving birth only; not be more than 21 years old at the time of filing of application; bona fide resident within the Province of Benguet as certified by the Barangay Development Council in the barangay where he or she resides; indigent and deserving student as certified by the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office where he or she resides, must have a general average of at least or equivalent to 80% upon graduation from senior high school, and no failing grades in the finals; of good moral character as certified by the school principal; should enrol in a CHED-accredited education institution within Baguio City, Benguet Province, or adjoining provinces; not a grantee of any other scholarship program from other institution; for the Alternative Learning System (ALS) Program, he or she must pass the High School Accreditation and Equivalency Examination given by the Department of education; and for the sports or technical skills program, he or she must possess special skills in sports and technical skills that brought honour and prestige to the Province of Benguet.
Requirements: certified Copy of Certificate of Live Birth issued by the Municipal Civil Registrar or PSA; barangay Certification of Residency; municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) Certification of Indigency’; certified Copy of Senior High School Card; certificate of Good Moral Character issued by the concerned school principal; proof of enrolment for 1st Semester, SY 2022-2023 in any CHED-accredited educational institution within Baguio City, Benguet Province, or adjoining provinces; for the Alternative Learning System (ALS) Program, proof that he or she passed the High School Accreditation and Equivalency Examination given by the Department of education; and for the Sports or Technical Skills Program, proof that he or she possess special skills in sports and technical skills that brought honour and prestige to the Province of Benguet.
