Your mind is phenomenal. You are meant to use it – by sharing what you have, by thinking of different ways to deliver value at work and in the community. You are to ‘consume’ your mind! And you also need to ‘feed’ your mind.
Just like me, you may have seen people who are good in ‘consuming’ their minds but you may have noticed that they missed doing the other part. So today, I would like to talk about ‘feeding’ your mind.
For the past weeks and months, I have been conducting trainings – to groups of teachers, students and professionals in Baguio, and to the youths of Cavite, Cagayan de Oro, Puerto Princesa, and Bulacan. I have been ‘consuming’ my mind.
Last week, I was asked to join a training team to conduct training of trainers. I had to decline. I had to pause from ‘consuming’ my mind. I scheduled four days to feed my mind this week.
You and I need to feed our minds. We need to receive for us to be able to give.
As I am writing this, I am dressed up for the second day of the Kerygma Conference, the largest inspirational event in the Philippines. The learning, inspiration and challenge I received yesterday was phenomenal. Today, I am expecting for more!
Sometimes people ask me, “You are young. Where do you get all these that you are sharing?” I look at them with a smile and answer.
What we often see in trainers, speakers and authors are the trainings they conduct, the speeches they deliver and the books they write. What we often do not see in the surface is that they also get trained intensively, they listen to numerous talks, and devour tons of books. Not only that.
Aside from trainings, talks, books, articles, videos, I also intentionally observed people, events and encounters. Even in the seemingly small ordinary experiences, I try to squeeze a life lesson from it. Everyday, I long for learning, for wisdom, for the nourishment of my phenomenal mind.
Yes, the mind is phenomenal – but it can only share to its mightiest when it is fed. So, ‘consume’ your mind. Exploit it! But remember to always ‘feed’ it with the right food of inspiration, instruction and empowerment.
Let me ask you again: Are you feeding your mind? What are you feeding your minds with? What will you start doing today to feed your mind?
