COTABATO CITY – The Bangsamoro Transition Authority Parliament passed a resolution expressing their full support to the two bills filed in both House of Congress that seeks to establish the Autonomous Region of the Cordillera.
In a Facebook post on February 19, Member of the Parliament Baintain Adil-Ampatuan announced the expression of support introduced by Members of the Parliament Atty. Jose Lorena, Atty. Laisa Alamia, Atty. Rasol Mitmug Jr., Atty. Suharto Ambolodto, Engr. Don Mustapha Loong, Amir Mawallil, Rasul Ismael, Atty. Lanang Ali Jr. and Engr. Ampatuan herself.
The post further quotes Engineer Adil-Ampatuan saying, “It is now our turn to support the bid of the people of Cordilleras for their autonomous region”. This in reference to the Cordillera Regional Development Council’s expression of support even before the passage of the Bangsamoro Organic Law.
The post concluded that the Bangsamoro Transition Authority believes that “the Cordillera’s pursuit of autonomy also deserves the same amount of attention and support as that of the Bangsamoro”.
Last September, Members of Parliament Adil-Ampatuan and Lorena met with delegates of the Cordillera Regional Development Council in Cotabato City to impart wisdom on running an autonomous region. “We always join the Cordillerans as they have joined us in our quest for meaningful autonomy,” Lorena said in that meeting while Engr. Adil-Ampatuan shared the previous ARMM’s experience with the proper devolution and fiscal autonomy.
