TABUK CITY, Kalinga – During the first quarter meeting of the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CADAC), the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Kalinga announced that barangays Lacnog and Nambaran are declared drug-cleared by the Regional Oversight Committee on Barangay Drug Clearing (ROCBDC).
Melanie Gorospe of PDEA Kalinga said that these two areas were classified as such since December 15, 2023
A barangay that was formerly categorized as drug-affected and that has completed the Barangay Drug Clearing Program and been proclaimed drug-cleared by the ROCBDC is referred to as drug-cleared.
41 barangays in Tabuk City are classified as drug-cleared, whilst Brgy. Lacnog West is the only drug-free classified barangay while Brgy. Laya East is classified as drug-affected.
barangays Malin-awa, Lacnog, Nambaran, Agbannawag, Bulanao are subject for validation, and Lacnog West for verification, by the PDEA because there are allegedly identified drug personalities from these areas.
The BADAC in these identified barangays are urged by the PDEA to uphold their responsibilities and assist in putting an end to any activities related to illegal drugs. Additionally, the ROCBDC will send a letter to the barangay leaders requesting that they take the proper action on the circumstances.
The Philippine National Police and the PDEA will keep checking and verifying any activity pertaining to illegal substances.
The results will serve as the foundation for the barangay that the PDEA Regional Office’s Intelligence and Investigation Section recommends to receive a Certificate of No Active Drug Personality. By Darwin S. Serion
