LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Six members of the Benguet Dancesport Team clinched top places in the 2nd Philippines Superstars Open Dance Championship held in Dance Vision Arena, San Juan City, Manila on July 16, 2022.
Mico Dumalos and Mark Benter triumphed in Latin Duo. The latter joined Jhosan Galvez in Latin settling for 6th place, while Fiji Balao and Ashley Abance finished 7th in Junior Latin.
For solo categories, Jayson Ace Abenoja bagged 3rd and 4th places in standards while Fiji Balao placed 6th in Junior Latin Solo.
The team paid a courtesy call on Governor Dr. Melchor Daguines Diclas on July 20 to present their awards and to express their gratitude for the financial support the Office of the Governor extended for their registration in the said national competition.
Governor Diclas congratulated the team on their success and encouraged them to continue their passion as they bring more inspirations not only to aspiring dancers, but also to every iBenguet youth.
The Benguet Dancesport team is under the supervision of the multi-awarded coach and dance sport athlete, Ms. Charibelle Saya Pingawa. She is also among the young artists who were recognized by Governor Diclas during the 2022 BIYAG festival last April.
The team has also conducted the first Benguet dance sport camp last July 1-3 to train wannabe dance sport athletes in the province.
