MANKAYAN, Benguet – Benguet Caretaker Congressman and Anti-Crime and Terrorism through Community Involvement and Support (ACT-CIS) Party-list Rep. Eric Go Yap continues to improve the communication network between him and the grassroots level by providing the appropriate communication gadgets to punong barangays in the province’s 140 barangays to appraise him of the needs of the people in the said areas.
Yap, who chairs the powerful House Committee on Appropriations, said that the state-of-the-art mobile phones will serve as a direct connection between him and the people in the different barangays through the punong barangays and the youth leaders for their requests for assistance from concerned government agencies.
He disclosed his office will be creating a Viber group among the 13 presidents of the Liga ng mga Barangays and the 13 Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairpersons for the 13 municipalities for the concerns of the residents in the barangays within their jurisdiction to be immediately brought to his attention for appropriate action and for him to have the appropriate link with the people in the grassroots level.
The lawmaker urged residents wanting to seek assistance from his office to coordinate with their punong barangays or their SK leaders for these officials to refer their requests to their leaders in the municipality who will relay the matter to him through their Viber group for his appropriate action or referral to the concerned agencies.

According to him, he wants to introduce a new brand of public service to the people by bringing such services to their barangays or municipalities and providing them the needed linkage to his office for him to be updated on the needs of the people in the rural areas.
Congressman Yap underscored that people seeking help from his office should not risk themselves in having to travel from distant barangays just to access the needed assistance, but instead, the assistance should reach the beneficiaries through the improved linkage between his office and the barangays.
He stated that when the mobile ‘tulong’ vehicle will reach their municipalities, residents should immediately seek assistance from the personnel managing these for their concerns to be given the appropriate attention and referrals in cases that their requested assistance will be beyond their capacity to act on it.
The Benguet caretaker congressman assured people of the province that for as long as he is the designated legislative caretaker, he will try strive to extend any available assistance he can be able to access from concerned government agencies, his existing personal resources and the different sectors that are willing to help in the overall growth and development of Benguet in the future.
He said that he will continue scheduling his visits to the different parts of the province for him to be appraised on the real situation on the ground as well as to evaluate and assess the appropriate development assistance that will be extended to the said areas for the people to be able to survive the impact of the prevailing crisis situation and to help in spurring the overall growth and development of the remote villages.
