TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The Bureau of Internal Revenue’s (BIR) District Office 11, covering the provinces of Kalinga and Apayao, targets to collect PhP1.9 billion within this year’s taxable period.
Atty. Ivy Jean Lomas-e from BIR RDO 11 said that they have a goal to collect their target from all the taxpayers in the two provinces.
According to Lomas-e, for the first quarter, they have only collected PhP280 million less than their target for the first three months but are expected to surpass their target within the taxable period.
In 2023, they exceeded their target by collecting PhP1.551 billion, surpassing their target of PhP1.4 billion.
She explained that taxes collected from the people are returned in various forms, such as different services and programs initiated by the government.
She illustrated that the salaries of government employees, medical services, newly built projects such as bridges, farm-to-market roads, and schools made by the government came from the taxes paid by the taxpayers.
Lomas-e emphasized that paying the accurate amount of taxes on time would not only hit their goal, but it would also be more beneficial to the government, and ultimately benefit the people.
She reminded that tax evaders may be held criminally liable under the law and reminded delinquent tax payers to also settle their obligations to the government.
They will continue to conduct information drives to update all the taxpayers. There will be a briefing for a group of wholesalers and retailers on May 7 at 1:00 PM in the Conference Room that will be attended by all the municipalities.
The citizens are encouraged to visit the Facebook page and Web page of RDO 11 to be updated on their various programs and services. By Ian Jefrey Addatu
