BONTOC, Mountain Province – Aimed to promote art appreciation among the younger generations, the Sangguniang Bayan through the initiative of Councilor Benedict Odsey II in collaboration with the Office of the Municipal Mayor-Tourism Unit and Municipal Library recently conducted the Visual Arts Workshop at the Bontoc Municipal Capitol Auditorium.
The activity was participated in by 50 artists and art enthusiasts ages 8-25 years.
Councilor Odsey who is the Co-chairperson of the Committee on Culture and the Arts and an architect by profession encouraged the participants to continue practicing their passion as visual artists and not to rush when working on a piece.
“I earnestly believe that we have budding artists in our locality, and it is proper that we support and encourage them to continue their passion for arts. Take time, relax, do the work, and finish your art pieces,” he added.
He expressed high hopes that the activity will serve as an avenue for the participants to hone their skills and talents. Also, it is an opportunity for the participants to get to know other artists and art enthusiasts in the municipality and to formally create their organization.
Clarisse Corpuz and Klipperson Africano, both local artists in Bontoc, were invited to share their expertise on artwork with the participants.
