Bontoc provides cash incentives to Muay Thai athletes

BONTOC, Mountain Province – Seven Muay Thai athletes who participated and earned medals in the Muay Thai Regional Championships-Luzon Leg received cash incentives from the municipal government on August 7, 2023.

Ervyne Ofo-ob, Segundo Gideon, and Jirah Lacayen who all garnered silver medals in the said combative sports received P2,000.00 each. 

Lesley Tudlong, Joshua Fochad, Henry Xyrex Mackeon, and Jet Lee Farongyad who all earned Bronze medals were provided with P1,000.00 each.

Aside from this, the athletes received Certificates of Recognition which were handed over by Vice Mayor Eusebio Kabluyen and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Municipal Federation President Sherwin Chamkas in recognition of the pride and honor the athletes brought to the municipality, and of the province as a whole. The awarding of Certificates of Commendation was facilitated by Local Youth Development Officer-Designate Ross Kiat-ong.

Also, Francis Ky M. Peckley, the coach of the Muay Thai athletes was issued a Certificate of Commendation for his great contribution in honing the combative skills of the athletes.

During the courtesy visit of the Muay Thai athletes to Bontoc Mayor Jerome “Chagsen” Tudlong, Jr., he congratulated and commended them for their recent outstanding achievement in combative sports. 

He added the athletes’ remarkable skills and unwavering determination, hard work, and perseverance have been an inspiration to all the young generation who are aspiring to become champions in the world of combative sports.

Similarly, the members of the Sangguniang Bayan (SB) led by Vice Mayor Kabluyen lauded the athletes and their coach for their achievements.

The SB members expressed high hopes that more youth would engage in sports that not only promote healthy lifestyles, but good attitudes and self-discipline too.

Meanwhile, these medalists are advancing to the National level competition on November 7-12, 2023.
