BONTOC, Mountain Province – In support of the transportation needs of the members of the Farmer Cooperative Association and all local farmers in the municipality, the Bontoc Local Government Unit (LGU) through the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist (OMAg) in partnership with the Departments of Agriculture (DA) procured a truck vehicle for them to use when transporting their products from their farmlands to the market.
The Very Reverend Edwin Ayabo of the Cathedral of all Saints / Episcopal Diocese of Northern Philippines (EDNP) officiated the blessing of the vehicle on April 18, 2024, at the Bontoc Municipal Capitol grounds.
According to Bontoc Mayor Jerome “Chagsen” Tudlong Jr., the fund that was utilized for the acquisition of the vehicle was supplied by the Agri-Business and Marketing Assistance Division of the Department of Agriculture, with a 20% counterpart from the Bontoc LGU.
He added that the project is beneficial for the farmers who do not own transportation and need to transport products in the market at a lower transport fare/ transportation cost.
Also, Mayor Tudlong relayed that the KADIWA vehicle will travel to Tabuk City tomorrow to haul fingerlings to be transported here in Bontoc.
In attendance during the blessing were Administrative Assistant III Distre Comila and Agriculturist I Carolyn Kalley, who are both from the DA and some employees of the Bontoc LGU. By Shannon Anthea S. Pagaduan
